The Convocation Sejm in Warsaw. 1696.

The Sejm was called in June, and the customary local assemblies of nobility took place toward the end of July 1696. The Sejm elected Stefan Humięcki, the Grand Pantler of Podolia, as the Marshal of the Chamber of Envoys. The Sejm turned into a scene of bickering between the former Sobieski Court supporters and their opponents, while the envoy from the Czernichów (Chernihiv) province, Łukasz Horodyński, made a failed attempt to scuttle the gathering. The so-called Convocation Sejm deliberated until 28 September 1696.
