Sejm after the war with Moscow. Ordinary Sejm in Warsaw. 1582 r.

The Sejm was convened in July 1582. The pre-sejm sejmiks were held in August and September 1582. The Sejm began its proceedings on 4 October 1582. Lew Sapieha, a the Grand Writer of Lithuania, was elected Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. The royal proposals to settle Livonia after the war with Moscow, to conclude an agreement with Sweden, to pay the outstanding military pay and to reform the Royal Court met with resistance from deputies, especially in the area of military taxes. The Conscription Universals were not passed, but the constitution for Livonia was adopted. The Sejm concluded its proceedings on 25 November 1582.
